Former AU envoy becomes Deputy Foreign Minister

SARJO-JALLOW-1President Yahya Jammeh has appointed the country’s former representative to the African Union Sarjo Jallow as Deputy Foreign Minister, replacing Ms Mam Bamba Njie.

Jallow had served in Mr Jammeh’s cabinet as Youths and Sports Minister before being sent to Addis Ababa as the country’s chief envoy to the African Union. Former Local Government and Lands Minister Max Axi Gaye had replaced Jallow who became The Gambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia.

A new post for Ms Njie who served as civil service chief and presidential affairs minister before her transfer to Quadrangle has not been announced.
