Former prominent opposition figure who was appointed by President Jammeh as Minister of Lands, Lamin Waa Juwara has been released from prisons after serving six months.
Juwara was dismissed and jailed last year after a court found him guilty of negligence of official duty along with two others, Hamidou Jallow, the former Principal Evaluation Officer of the lands ministry and businessman Tamsir Onasis Konteh.
Juwara, a veteran politicians is leader of dormant National Democratic Action Movement – NDAM, a party he formed after parting company with the main opposition United Democratic Party, where he was the Organizing Secretary.
Juwara’s party has been very quite on the current political crisis including country and made no mention of nominating a presidential candidate to challenge President Yahya Jammeh in the December polls. NDAM joined the APRC is a coalition for local government polls, briefly putting Mr Juwara and President Jammeh on the same page.
