Béninoise President Patrice Talon and Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara confirmed they will be in Banjul next week to attend the inauguration of President-elect Adama Barrow.
The Béninoise leader, a businessman like Barrow, who won last year’s elections ran as an independent welcomed President Yahya Jammeh’s reassurance that the political crisis in Gambia will be resolved peacefully.
Talon and Ouattara are will be traveling together to Banjul.
West African leaders have pledged in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital to attend Mr. Barrow’s inauguration.
President Jammeh lost elections last month and has refused to step down. West African leaders are due to hold talks with him for a second time on Friday.
Jammeh had supported former Ivorian leader Laurent Gbagbo during the country’s 2011 crisis.
