Gambia’s opposition GDC party has expelled a senior member of its executive falling short of giving a reason for his removal.
Musa Batchilly, the Foreign Affairs Secretary of the GDC party was sacked on Friday evening before the close of business by the party leader, Mama Kandeh.
Batchilly has been banned from taking part in all activities, programs, and functions of the party, according to a statement.
GDC is the Gambia’s youngest party and came out third in the last year’s shocking election that saw the ouster of the longstanding ruler, Yahya Jammeh.
It’s party leader Kandeh was a Member of Parliament for Jammeh’s APRC party from which he was expelled from in April 2012.
The opposition group, which turned one in May won five parliamentary seats in the April National Assembly elections and hopes to win big in next year’s local government polls.
