Gambia: Siffoe man accused of stabbing friend granted bail

Saikou Touray has been granted a D45,000 dalasis ($1125 dollars) bail by a magistrate in Brikama, according to the victim’s family.

Touray is accused of stabbing Lamin Demba in June and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Gambian authorities are holding him liable on for assault causing serious bodily harm.

According to a criminal complaint, Touray stabbed Demba using a broken glass bottle three times in Siffoe village, outside Brikama.

Demba survived the attack but has been left seriously traumatized by the incident, his family said.

Magistrate A.R. Bah has adjourned the case for continuation to July 12 and has ordered that Touray’s surety must swear to an affidavit of mean and surrender his travel documents to the court.
