Gambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ousainou Darboe held bilateral talks with the Turkish Prime Minister, Binali Yıldırım during his visit to Ankara, the Foreign Office said.
The Gambia tops the list of Sub-Saharan countries with which Turkey maintains good relations and trade has increased since the coming of the new government.
The two countries have at least 22 bilateral Agreements, Protocols, and Memorandums of Understanding.
13 of them have come into force while the ratification processes of the remaining 9 are still ongoing.
Turkish businessmen and investors had shied away from The Gambia before the defeat of the ex-President Yahya Jammeh and Prime Minister Yıldırım is urging Turkish businesses to invest in Gambia.
Turkey is also to provide The Gambia with 20 buses to ease the burden of public transportation and will continue to provide security assistance to the country.
