Gambia: Police arrest suspected murder fugitive

A 32-year-old Mika Bah has been arrested by the police in the Serrekunda area, where he has been in hiding after being on the run from the authorities.

Bah, a Senegalese citizen is accused of killing his roommate, Papa Ndiaye last Saturday in Manjai Kunda, a suburb, 10 miles outside the capital, Banjul.

Bah is currently being detained at the Kairaba Police Station in Fajara, helping the police with their investigation. He allegedly hit Ndiaye with a stick during a scuffle.

Ndiaye suffered a concussion and broken jaw when he was hit by Bah. Ndiaye was pronounced dead at a nearby medical center and his remain was later taken to the main hospital in Banjul.

Police said they do not what exactly transpired between the two and are digging to unearth the facts surrounding the fight that led to Ndiaye’s death.

Police prosecutors have filed murder charges against Bah, who will be facing a judge at the High Court in the capital, Banjul. It is not clear when Bah was arrested but the police had spent the week haunting the suspect.
