Kandeh sends special envoy to UDP after NAMs survive auto crash

The leader of the GDC party, Hon. Mama Kandeh has sent a special envoy to the UDP Party leader and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ousainou Darboe to extend sympathy over the fatal accident involving two parliamentarians.

The vehicles of the two UDP members of parliament were in an accident on a highway just outside the capital, Banjul, leaving five people dead and at least a dozen others injured.

“We visited Hon. Ousainou Darboe at his office to express our heartfelt condolence to the bereaved families of the deceased persons in the accident, as well as our wishes for a speedy recovery of the two NAMs and several others, injured,” said Modou Cham Jr.

The legislators, Saikouba Jarjue of Busumbala Constituency and Baba Galleh Jallow of Sanementereng sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment from the Teaching Hospital in Banjul.

The GDC delegation also met with the two national assembly members at the Edward Francis Small Teaching. They were also visited at the hospital by Mr. Darboe shortly after reports of the accident emerged.

The cause of the collision was not immediately clear but witnesses say the speeding vehicle of the Sanementereng MP Baba Galleh Jallow was trying to overtake that of Busumbala MP Saikouba Jarju when it lost control, hitting Jarju’s vehicle twice before drifting offroad.
